Rete Latitudini presents “Confini e Sconfinamenti”, a cycle of six meetings-bio-interviews with New Dramaturgy authors, live streaming, conceived and curated by Filippa Ilardo and Simona Scattina, with the sponsorship of ANCT (Associazione Nazionale Critici Teatrali).

A real journey in contemporary Sicilian dramaturgy to “tell” the poetics, define the reasons for theatrical writings, confront with authors, actors, scholars, critics and organizers.

The first appointment, hosted by Filippa Ilardo Saturday, February 27 at 6:30 p.m., which will initiate this fascinating project, is the conversation on the theme “Between the Folds of Subtext,” between playwright Tino Caspanello and the authors Stéphane Resche and Christine Resche, lecturers of theUniversité Paris Est Creteil.

Theater criticism Filippa Ilardo describes as follows Confini e Sconfinamenti: “Traveling between texts and words to offer an educational, informative tool for understanding and reflecting on writing practices and how they are in dialogue with stage practices, with the art of acting. This is the origin of this series of meetings. The desire to offer a useful confrontation tool for those who want to immerse themselves in the art of stage writing, and to tell the audience, from the inside, the motivations, the reasons, the coordinates of the poetics of the most representative playwrights of our land, of our time.

Simona Scattina, professor of Performing Arts Disciplines at the Department of Humanities at the University of Catania, clarifies, “In these first six meetings we host some of the protagonists and leading figures of what we can define as a disruptive theatrical parabola, which since the last decade of the twentieth century has relaunched Sicily's quotations as a creative forge of the contemporary theater scene. Artists who stand out within the chessboard of Sicilian dramaturgy for dramaturgical ingenuity, desire for renewal and audacity. The meetings will be a way to get to know them better, but also to question the role of the performing arts in a period of such profound transformations.”

Gigi Spedale, President of the Latitude Network, concludes, “We also need to put this, now too long, period of imposed and painful seclusion to constructive use. Latitudini, thanks to the scientific collaboration of the University of Catania and ANCT, gives birth to this valuable opportunity for analysis and reflection on the writing of our authors. It will be a natural continuation and deepening of the admirable work started with WRITE, the start of an organic discourse that I think will take us far, exploring the mine of Sicilian dramaturgy, raising our eyes beyond our “borders.”

The meetings will be broadcast live on Latitudes' Facebook page and Instagram profile.
